We had given ourselves a few days to see Yellowstone. Since we were spending about a week near there, we could see a different portion of the park each day.
On one occasion some of us also visited the Yellowstone Playhouse, which is in Island Park, near Henry’s Lake where we were staying. I love any live performance, and this was a treat as it included dinner with the performance. We watched “Pirates of the Car-rib-eee-an”. It was a parody of the related Disney movies.
We visited the Grizzly and Wolf center, we spent some time walking around the town of West Yellowstone, and we did some exploring.
As the days went on, we discovered that the best time to see the park was very early in the morning, as after about 10am, it became extremely busy, and one could wait for an hour for traffic to make it past travelling buffalo on the sides of the road. Also, parking at any site later in the morning became nigh impossible. There were a lot of people, even for the end of May/beginning of June; I couldn’t imagine visiting later in the summer.
We visited most of the park including the geyser basins, the mud pits, Mammoth, the grand canyon of Yellowstone, the lake, and of course, Old Faithful.
