We love the Oregon coast. We love going out on fishing trips there, sightseeing, eating the food, breathing the cool, crisp air, and walking on the beach.
On this trip, we planned another bottom fishing trip with our family and friends. Among the folks we reunited with are a couple who moved to the Oregon coast from Idaho recently, a couple who drove over just to go with us, one of Nate’s current coworkers and her husband came down, as well as a friend we were able to meet for the first time in person after talking online with them about Solar equipment over this last year. It was great to see everyone.
We met up with Janine and her family in Albany, Oregon at the fairgrounds there for a lunchtime stopover. We then traveled over together to Newport.
We stayed at the Port of Newport RV Park and Marina. We’ve been here before, and it’s got great access to see the sites, as well as allowing us to walk to our fishing charter as we used the Newport Marina Store and Charters to take us out. We went out on the Miss Raven, which is a boat we’ve been out on before. The captain Mike and his crew are always pleasant, accommodating, and entertaining.
The boat’s limit of Black Rockfish and one good sized Lingcod were caught, and a couple of Cabezon were thrown back. We didn’t limit out on crab, but we got enough for everyone to take some home. Lots of pictures.
We visited several sites, saw the tide pools at Yaquina Head, and ate some delicious food at the Newport Cafe, the Chowder Bowl, and at Sharks. I wish I would have gotten more time to spend at the beach this trip, but look forward to a future trip.
We’re now back in Seattle, working on more projects, and Justin and Stacy have joined us. Nate’s family followed us up here over the 4th to spend some time here over the holiday, and it was a great time. We’ll have another update soon.
